DOWNTOWN WELCOMES ALASKA’S SIGNATURE EVENTS IN FEBRUARY
January 20, 2010 by dberg · Leave a Comment
Downtown is already Fairbanks’ ‘living room’, seat of signature events, site of our pioneer history and showroom of our community character. And downtown is getting even better. For the first time, the Iron Dog finished downtown last year; and now Tired Iron is moving downtown.
To kick-off a fantastic February, the Yukon Quest International Sled Dog Race starts on the Chena River in downtown Fairbanks at 11 AM Saturday, February 6. Hook-up in the Borough parking lot and watch the teams depart from the Cushman or Wendell Street bridges downtown.
Tired Iron rattles into town at 10 AM Saturday, February 27th and keeps going the 28th. Activities on the river will span from the Elks Club to the Wendell street bridge downtown. All-day parking for $2 all weekend in the downtown Parking Garage.
The Iron Dog will finish downtown noon – 2 PM Saturday, February 27th between the Cushman and William Ransom Wood pedestrian bridges.
And looking ahead to March . . . the Open North American Sled Dog Race returns to 2nd Avenue March 19 – 21.
